When it happened

  • August 2026: Galaxy A17 5G. Its second rise, reported by TechLekh on 17 August. The 6/128 GB version now costs NPR 44,999.
  • 17–18 September: Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra. First reported by Gadgetbyte on 17 September and TechLekh on 18 September. The S26 Ultra 16 GB/1 TB and the S26+ didn't change.
  • 28 September: Galaxy A57 and A37. Reported by Gadgetbyte and TechLekh. TechLekh says long-running launch discounts had ended.
  • October: Galaxy S26 FE. Up by 5,000 rupees about a month after its September launch. Reported from 9 October, and on Samsung Plaza when we checked on 14 October.

Samsung Nepal hasn't announced any of these rises or given a reason, and no report gives the exact day each one took effect.

Why prices went up

Samsung hasn't said. The Nepal rises came as Samsung raised Galaxy S26 prices around the world: in India from about 23 September, and in the US and Korea on 1 October, by $100 to $200 in the US. Reports in Korea and India blame the rising cost of memory chips; that is the outlets' explanation, not Samsung's. Abroad, the S26 FE and the foldables weren't raised, but the S26 FE did go up in Nepal.

What didn't change

  • Galaxy S26+: still NPR 1,59,999, with a 23,000-rupee cashback off its list price that has run since 19 May. Samsung Plaza showed it out of stock when we checked.
  • Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8: no change reported since their August launch. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 costs NPR 1,94,999.
  • Galaxy S26 Ultra 16 GB/1 TB: still at its launch price.

Should you buy now or wait?

Nobody can say whether prices will come back down, and Samsung is reported to be weighing higher prices for the Galaxy S27 as well. If you need a phone, buying now fixes today's price. To spread the cost, Samsung Plaza's 0% EMI needs 40% down: see Samsung EMI in Nepal.
