Start with the size
Measure from where you sit to the wall where the TV will go. Samsung's own size guide matches screen size to that distance, and it allows a 4K TV to sit closer than an HD one, because the finer pixels stay sharp up close. TV sizes are measured diagonally, corner to corner, so a 55-inch TV is not 55 inches wide.

The same guide gives a second, simpler rule: your viewing distance in metres times 25 gives a screen size in inches. That rule points to a smaller TV than the table does. Treat the two as a range. If your sofa is 2 metres from the wall, the rules suggest 50 to 65 inches, so a 55-inch or 65-inch set both make sense.
For bedrooms, Samsung suggests 42 to 43 inches for watching from bed, or 55 inches if you sit about 1.5 m away. For a family living room it suggests 65 to 75 inches, and 75 to 85 inches if you watch a lot of sport or films.
The panel types, in plain words
Samsung sells five picture types in Nepal. What changes from one to the next is the backlight behind the screen and how the colour is made. From cheapest to dearest:
HD and Full HD
The Samsung HD Smart TV H4550 is 32 inches with HD resolution (1366 × 768). The Samsung Full HD Smart TV F5500 is 43 inches with Full HD (1920 × 1080). Both are smart TVs with apps. At these sizes and bedroom distances, the lower resolution is easy to live with. See the HD and Full HD TVs.
Crystal UHD
Crystal UHD is Samsung's everyday 4K LED range. The Crystal Processor 4K upscales HD channels and streams to fill the 4K screen. The 2026 Samsung Crystal UHD U8500H comes in 55 and 65 inches; the 85-inch Samsung Crystal UHD BU8000 is a 2022 model. Both run at 60 Hz. See all Crystal UHD TVs.
QLED
QLED adds a layer of quantum dots: nanoscale particles that give off different colours depending on their size. The result is richer colour than a standard LED set. The Samsung QLED Q8F adds a 120 Hz panel for smoother football and games, plus Dolby Atmos. The Samsung QLED Q7F covers 75 and 85 inches at 60 Hz but is out of stock. See the QLED TVs.
Mini LED
Mini LED TVs use many tiny LEDs behind the screen, in zones that dim and brighten separately. Samsung calls this local dimming, and it gives deeper blacks and brighter highlights than a standard LED backlight. The Samsung Mini LED M70H uses Samsung's Pure Spectrum Colour, which works with phosphors rather than quantum dots. In Nepal it is sold as a 75-inch set with the HW-B450 soundbar in the box price.
Neo QLED
Neo QLED combines both ideas: a Quantum Mini LED backlight with local dimming, plus quantum dot colour. Samsung calls it its premium range. The 2026 Samsung Neo QLED QN70H is sold in 65 inches only, with the NQ4 AI processor and HDR10+.
Smart TV basics
- Apps: every set runs Samsung's Tizen system. The 32- and 43-inch models list Netflix, YouTube and free Samsung TV Plus channels built in.
- Updates: the Samsung QLED Q8F, Samsung QLED Q7F and Samsung Crystal UHD U8500H list up to seven years of Tizen OS upgrades, so apps should keep working for longer.
- Vision AI: the 2026 models (QN70H, M70H and U8500H) add Samsung's Vision AI Companion.
- Ports: the 32- and 43-inch sets have two HDMI ports, one with eARC, which covers a set-top box and a soundbar. The Q8F has four HDMI ports.
- Sound: every set lists 20 W of speaker output. If you want fuller sound, look at the soundbars, or the M70H bundle.
- Power: the 43-inch F5500 lists 85 W maximum power use and the 32-inch H4550 lists 65 W.
